FAQ What is Interpreting? What is Translation? What is Transcription? Transcription is the conversion into written, typewritten or printed form, of a spoken-language source, as in the proceedings of a court hearing. What is Localization? Is the second phase of a larger process (Internationalization and localization) of product translation and cultural adaptation (for specific countries, regions, groups) to account for differences in distinct markets. Thus, it is important not to reduce it to a mere translation activity because it involves a comprehensive study of the target culture in order to correctly adapt the product. What is a CAT tool? Computer-assisted translation, computer-aided translation, or CAT is a form of translation wherein a human translator translates texts using computer software designed to support and facilitate the translation process. What is TM? A translation memory, or TM, is a database that stores segments that have been previously translated. A translation-memory system stores the words, phrases and paragraphs that have already been translated and aid human translators. The translation memory stores the source text and its corresponding translation in language pairs called “translation units”. What is the job of a Court Interpreter?
